I need a seasoned developer who can turn a set of business rules into a robust desktop application that runs smoothly on both Windows and macOS. The core idea is simple: users type or paste text, press a button, and the software applies predefined logic and calculations to return fast, reliable results.
You’ll shape the entire flow—from the parsing of free-form text input through to the final output screen—so clear thinking and thoughtful UI decisions matter as much as clean code. I’m open to Python with PyQt/PySide, C# on .NET MAUI, or any comparable stack that lets us deliver a native-feeling experience on the two target operating systems.
Key points you’ll tackle
• Automation engine: implement the calculation/decision logic in a way that is easy for me to tweak later.
• Cross-platform desktop UI: consistent look and feel, keyboard-friendly, no clutter.
• Error handling & logging: friendly messages for users, detailed logs for us.
• Packaged installers for Windows (.exe or .msi) and macOS (.dmg or .pkg).
Deliverables
1. Full source code with concise inline documentation.
2. Build scripts or CI workflow that generates installers for both OSs.
3. A short user guide covering installation, basic use, and common troubleshooting steps.
Acceptance criteria
– Inputs processed exactly according to the logic we outline in our spec session.
– Output matches provided test cases.
– Application launches and exits without warnings on current Windows 10/11 and macOS Sonoma systems.
