I have an ESP-01 based home-automation setup that currently drives my household lights. I now need a clean, reliable mobile app that lets me:
• switch any connected light on/off from anywhere
• create time-based or recurring schedules so the lights act automatically
• receive push notifications (for example, confirmation that a schedule executed or a light was left on longer than X minutes)
The app must run smoothly on both Android and iOS. I’m open to React Native, Flutter, or another cross-platform framework as long as the final builds pass the respective app-store requirements. The ESP-01 is flashed with the standard AT firmware and speaks over Wi-Fi (HTTP/REST is already exposed), so the mobile side only needs to consume the existing endpoints securely.
Deliverables
1. Source code with clear comments and a brief README for local builds.
2. Signed release builds for Android (AAB) and iOS (IPA/TestFlight).
3. Simple onboarding screen to add the ESP-01’s IP, plus a tidy UI showing current light status, manual control buttons, scheduling panel, and notification log.
4. Basic unit tests or integration tests that prove all three core functions work.
5. Short hand-off session or recorded walkthrough so I can maintain the project.
Acceptance criteria: both stores’ review passes, all three core features operate without crashes, and latency from button press to light response stays under one second on a local network.
If you’ve built IoT control apps before, especially with ESP devices, that experience will help speed things along. Let’s keep the first milestone focused on a minimally viable app with manual control, then layer in scheduling and notifications in the second.
