News Website Maintenance & Optimization

Краткое

Freelancer Client is hiring: News Website Maintenance & Optimization.

Location: Remote

My news portal has been running for a while, but a growing pile of small-yet-annoying bugs and a noticeable slowdown are beginning to undermine the reader experience. I’m looking for someone who can dive into the codebase, clear out the problems, and leave the site loading fast and rendering cleanly on every screen.

Bug fixes – the priority is twofold. First, intermittent display issues: headlines sometimes overlap images, article cards misalign on mobile, and certain widgets refuse to obey responsive rules. Second, functionality errors centred on the login system. A portion of users are bounced back to the sign-in page with no error, while others report sessions expiring too quickly.

Performance optimisation – page speed has slipped as the article archive has ballooned. I need database queries tightened, images smartly served, and any render-blocking assets deferred so stories open instantly.

1. A clean, readable commit history (Git) that closes out every display glitch you identify, with notes on what was fixed.

2. A robust, tested login flow that works consistently across modern browsers.

Skills: Nginx, MySQL, HTML, Vue.js

Budget: $12–$18 USD

My news portal has been running for a while, but a growing pile of small-yet-annoying bugs and a noticeable slowdown are beginning to undermine the reader experience. I’m looking for someone who can dive into the codebase, clear out the problems, and leave the site loading fast and rendering cleanly on every screen.

Here is what I’m dealing with right now:

• Bug fixes – the priority is twofold.

• Performance optimisation – page speed has slipped as the article archive has ballooned. I need database queries tightened, images smartly served, and any render-blocking assets deferred so stories open instantly.

Deliverables I expect:
1. A clean, readable commit history (Git) that closes out every display glitch you identify, with notes on what was fixed.
2. A robust, tested login flow that works consistently across modern browsers.
3. A performance report (e.g., Lighthouse/WebPageTest) showing measurable gains in Core Web Vitals, plus a brief “next steps” document so I can keep the site fast.

Tech stack: PHP 8 backend with a MySQL database, front-end mix of vanilla JS and a light Vue.js layer, all running on an Nginx server. If you are comfortable tracing issues through this stack and optimising it without breaking the newsroom’s publishing workflow, I’d like to hear how soon you could start and an outline of your approach.
