We’re a Canada-based law firm. We need a reliable, detail-oriented bookkeeper to keep our books current and accurate weekly, close the month on time, and maintain a simple Google Sheets KPI dashboard for management reporting. We file HST annually, and HST tracking must be accurate throughout the year.
What you'll do:
• Weekly transaction categorization and posting
• Bank and credit card reconciliations (monthly minimum; weekly preferred)
• Maintain chart of accounts and proper categorization
• Track and categorize marketing spend by channel (mail, ads, software/tools, etc.)
• Maintain vendor records, bills, and basic AP tracking (as applicable)
• Support month-end close and year-end preparation for the accountant
• HST Tracking (Required — Annual Filing)
Requirements:
• Books are updated weekly and closed monthly on time
• Bank/credit card reconciliations are accurate and up to date
• Clean monthly reporting (P&L + cash summary + payables/receivables snapshot)
• Accurate ongoing tracking of HST collected vs HST paid to support annual HST filing
• A simple KPI dashboard is updated weekly/monthly in Google Sheets
• Errors/anomalies are flagged early (duplicates, missing transactions, mis-categorizations)
