1. Background
The project group is seeking development of a small Android mobile application prototype for personal expense tracking. The application is intended for academic evaluation and demonstration purposes only and is not intended for commercial deployment.
2. Project Objective
To develop a functional Android MVP that enables a single user to record income and expenses, manage a monthly budget, and view basic financial summaries and spending patterns.
3. Scope of Required Work
The application must include the following features:
• Android application only (no iOS, web, or admin panel required)
• Manual entry of income and expense transactions
• Transaction fields including: amount, date, type (income/expense), category, payment method, and notes
• Ability to view, edit, and delete transactions
• Predefined expense categories with basic option to add or modify categories
• Monthly budget setup with real-time remaining budget calculation
• Dashboard displaying:
- Total monthly income and expenses
- Remaining budget
- Recent transactions
- Category-wise spending summary
• Local data storage on device (e.g., SQLite or equivalent)
• Basic Help/About section
• Simple documentation for setup and usage
4. Out of Scope
The following are explicitly excluded from the project:
• Bank integration or payment processing systems
• Cloud synchronization, user authentication, or multi-user functionality
• Receipt scanning, AI-based categorization, or automation features
• Multi-currency support or tax compliance features
• App store deployment or production-grade security requirements
5. Deliverables
The selected bidder will be required to provide:
• Fully functional Android application (APK or runnable project)
• Complete source code with setup/build instructions
• Basic user guide or README documentation
• Short technical overview including architecture and data storage approach
