Freelancer Client is hiring: Android SMS Testing Utility App.

I want a lightweight Kotlin-based Android app that lets me test SMS delivery through our own workflow. The interface can stay basic and functional: a single screen for server settings and a task list, another for simple settings where I can type or paste the whitelisted numbers myself.
Requirements:
• Tapping Send launches the system SMS composer with ACTION_SENDTO—no background sending at all.
Skills: Java, Mobile App Development, Android, Software Architecture, SQLite, Kotlin, Android App Development, Android Studio, Spring Boot, REST API
Budget: $250–$750 USD

Original
I want a lightweight Kotlin-based Android app that lets me test SMS delivery through our own workflow. The interface can stay basic and functional: a single screen for server settings and a task list, another for simple settings where I can type or paste the whitelisted numbers myself.
Typical flow I have in mind
• I key in the server’s IP and port.
• The app calls my REST endpoint (Retrofit / OkHttp) and pulls any pending test messages.
• Each task shows the destination number and the body text.
• Tapping Send launches the system SMS composer with ACTION_SENDTO—no background sending at all.
• When I come back, I tap Sent, Skipped, or Failed and the app pushes that status back through another REST call.
Login is not strictly required, yet if it’s straightforward to bolt on a minimal username-password or token screen I’ll gladly accept it.
Data notes
– Whitelisted numbers live in a small settings page and are stored locally (Room or plain SQLite, whichever is faster for you).
– The backend can be a concise Spring Boot, Node, or Flask service—your choice—as long as it exposes JSON endpoints and writes to MySQL (or SQLite for quick demo). I just need clean code and a quick import script for the schema.
Deliverables
• Full Android Studio project with clear README
• Source for the REST service and sample DB schema
• Brief setup guide so I can spin up the server, change the IP in the app, and run tests immediately
If anything in that list needs clarification, let me know before you start so we keep the scope tight and focused on getting a working prototype quickly.
