Browser Reflex/Clicker Game Development
Summary
Freelancer Client is hiring: Browser Reflex/Clicker Game Development.
Location: Remote
Compensation: Starting from $30 NZD | Timeline: 3–5 days | Scope: MVP only
I need a simple, browser-based reflex/clicker game. Think the Chrome dinosaur game — lightweight, instant to play, no install needed. One endless round that speeds up over time, 3 lives, game over when all lives are gone. This is an MVP — working and playable is the goal, not a polished product.
Gameplay: Enemies move toward a fortress on screen. The player clicks/taps them before they reach it. Each enemy that gets through costs a life. Lose all 3 and the game ends.
Enemy Spawning: Single enemy type only. Enemies spawn at a fixed rate that gradually increases over time. Some randomness in spawn position and timing is fine, but nothing complex.
Art Assets: Simple shapes, basic sprites, or free/open-licence assets are perfectly acceptable. No custom illustrations required — keep it functional over fancy.
Difficulty: Game speeds up progressively over time, like the Chrome dino game.
Skills: JavaScript, Mobile App Development, Game Design, CSS, HTML5, Game Development, React.js, Web Development, Backend Development, Frontend Development
Source: Freelancer Client via Remote / Online. Apply on the source website.

What I Need (MVP Scope)
Score: Displayed at the end of each run based on how long the player survived and enemies defeated.
Username entry: Player types a username before playing — no login, no account.
Global leaderboard: Top scores saved and displayed. Must use a free-tier backend (e.g. Supabase, Firebase, or similar) — no paid services. Required fields: username, score, and timestamp only.
Mobile: Basic playability on mobile browsers is enough — the game should be tappable and not broken on a phone screen, but a fully responsive UI is not required.
Deployed and live: Must be hosted on a free platform (e.g. Netlify, Vercel, GitHub Pages) with a working URL delivered at handoff.
Source code: Full source code delivered as a zip file.
What's NOT in Scope
Multiple enemy types, levels, or game modes
Character selection or unlockables
Mobile app — browser only
Custom illustrations or commissioned art
Authentication or user accounts
Backend beyond a single leaderboard table
