Detailed Design Proposal: The "Tranquility Wrap" Deck
Краткое
Freelancer Client is hiring: Detailed Design Proposal: The "Tranquility Wrap" Deck.
Location: Remote
This design centers on a multi-level structure that wraps around three sides of a 52-inch high above-ground pool, which is itself finished with custom dark wood paneling to integrate it into the deck architecture. The perspective is from the primary upper relaxation platform, looking across the pool and down to the dedicated grill station.
The aesthetic balance is modern yet rustic: the structure uses clean lines and open-air flow typical of modern architecture, but incorporates natural, high-quality woods (like cedar or Ipe) with visible grain, finished in a clear sealant that honors the forest environment.
The deck is structured across three distinct elevations to create movement and define specific "zones" for relaxation.
Zone A: The Upper Poolside Lounge (Foregound): This is the highest level, flush with the 52" pool rim for seamless "walk-in" access. The deck features built-in chaise lounges with thick, light gray weather-resistant cushions and a matching slatted wood side table. This level is designed for sunbathing, reading, and easy supervising of the pool area.
Zone B: The Main Relaxation Transition (Mid-ground): A few wide, shallow steps drop down to the main gathering area. Here, we feature comfortable, deep-seated outdoor club chairs arranged around a small, low-profile fire pit table (which can be a clean-burning propane unit). This is the conversational heart of the deck.
Skills: Building Architecture, 3D Rendering, AutoCAD, Interior Design, 3D Modelling, Building Design, Architectural Rendering, 2D Drafting
Budget: $250–$750 USD

1. Multi-Layer Heights and Zoning
Zone C: The Lower Grilling Platform (Right Foreground): This is the lowest tier, specifically a short platform for the grill area. It is defined by a simple stainless-steel built-in grill unit set into a small matching wood-slat counter. It is separated from the main lounge space but easily accessible. This lower height keeps smoke away from the primary relaxation areas and creates a designated culinary zone.
2. Modern-Rustic Materials and Aesthetics
Structure: All framing, decking, and the integrated benches are constructed from a durable, rich-toned cedar or Ipe. The wood features prominent grain but is meticulously sanded for a refined finish.
Railing: To minimize visual obstruction of the woods, the main upper perimeter uses clear tempered glass panels held by subtle matte black stainless steel posts. This provides security without blocking the view. The railing separating the different deck levels is a simple, minimalist horizontal cable-rail system with matching black posts.
Hardware and Connectors: (Critical for Florida Code) While the image focuses on the finished view, the design calls for all critical connections to feature decorative, yet robust, black powder-coated hurricane strapping and heavy-duty seismic connectors. These architectural ties are intentionally exposed as a modern industrial detail, combining code compliance with design aesthetic.
3. Comfort and Tranquility Enhancements
To maximize the feeling of tranquility, we integrate elements that soften the structure and engage the senses:
Integrated Greenery: The large tree trunks of the existing woods are integrated into the deck layout. Planters are built directly into the upper deck platforms, filled with native Florida palms and ferns (e.g., Dwarf Palmettos and Coontie Palms), blurring the boundary between the structure and the forest.
Shade Structures: On the far side, the upper deck features a minimalist, modern wooden pergola. Over this, a clean, white canopy shade sail is tightly drawn, providing a cool, shaded retreat from the afternoon Florida sun.
Lighting: The design includes discreet LED strip lighting recessed beneath the nosing of all stairs and under the built-in benches, providing safety and a gentle amber ambiance at night. The main trees are illuminated with subtle uplighting to define the perimeter.
This design delivers a modern sanctuary in the woods, balancing high-end materials with structural integrity. It is optimized for both peaceful contemplation and social entertaining around the pool.
