Original
I'm looking for an experienced Godot developer to build a small but polished 2D side-scrolling platformer game with ONE complete level. The scope is deliberately kept small so it can be delivered cleanly within one week.
=== GAME CONCEPT ===
A simple 2D side-scrolling platformer: a character moves through a tile-based level, collects items, avoids enemies, and reaches an exit. Think classic platformer feel — fun, colourful, and easy to demo.
=== REQUIRED FEATURES ===
1) MAIN MENU SCREEN (shown when the game launches)
- PLAY button — starts the level
- HELP button — opens a screen showing the controls (e.g. arrow keys / WASD / Space to jump)
- ABOUT button — shows your developer credit / name (optional but appreciated)
- QUIT button — exits the game
2) ONE COMPLETE GAME LEVEL
- Tile-based 2D map (level design is up to you, but should take roughly 1–2 minutes to complete on a first playthrough)
- Player character with left / right movement and a jump (or jetpack-style flight — your choice)
- At least 1–2 moving platforms
- Collectible items (e.g. coins, gems, stars) that add to the score when collected
- At least one type of enemy — you can choose whether enemies move on the ground only, fly, or both
- A score/points HUD in the top-left corner
- An EXIT point — reaching it triggers a "Level Complete" screen showing the final score, with a button to return to the main menu
3) ART & ASSETS
- Visuals should be clean, colourful, and cohesive
- You may use free / royalty-free assets (e.g. Kenney.nl, OpenGameArt, itch.io free packs). Please confirm asset licensing in your bid.
- NO copyrighted or IP-infringing assets (no Mario, Sonic, Disney, etc.)
- Final game must be ORIGINAL work — not a re-skin or upload of an existing project
4) ENGINE & PLATFORM
- Built in the Godot Engine (Godot 4.x preferred; 3.x acceptable if you have a strong reason)
- Deliver as a Windows executable (.exe) AND/OR an HTML5 web build
- Must run on a standard Windows 10/11 laptop with no additional installs required
=== DELIVERABLES ===
- The complete Godot project folder (all .tscn scenes, GDScript files, assets)
- A compiled / exported build (Windows .exe, or HTML5 — please confirm in your bid)
- A short README.txt covering: how to run the game, controls, and credits for any third-party assets
- All source code in GDScript
=== REFERENCE ===
I've attached a screenshot of the game "Jetpack Hero" as a visual reference for the general style and feel (start menu + tile-based level layout). You do NOT need to copy the art or characters — feel free to use your own creative direction with similar quality.
=== BUDGET & TIMELINE ===
- Budget: up to NZD $100 (fixed price)
- Timeline: maximum 7 days from project award
- Mid-project check-in expected around Day 3–4 (a short video or build showing progress)
- Payment will be released via Milestone Payments: 50% on first playable build, 50% on final accepted delivery
=== WHEN BIDDING, PLEASE INCLUDE ===
1. A link or attached screenshots of similar 2D Godot games you have built (portfolio required)
2. Confirmation that you can deliver within 7 days at the stated budget
3. A brief 2–3 sentence outline of your proposed approach (art style, asset source, character concept)
4. Any questions or clarifications
Generic copy-paste bids without a portfolio will be ignored.
Thanks — looking forward to your bids!
