Help Setup Windows Mail Server
Summary
Freelancer Client is hiring: Help Setup Windows Mail Server.
Location: Remote
I want to run my own, fully-functioning mail server on a Windows machine at home. I’m not fixated on a single protocol—my goal is simply to send, receive and pull mail reliably, so whichever mix of SMTP, IMAP or POP3 you recommend is fine with me.
What I need is end-to-end assistance: guiding me toward the right Windows-friendly software (hMailServer, MailEnable, even a lightweight Exchange alternative—your call), performing the complete installation, then walking me through every configuration step so I understand what has been done. That includes DNS records, SSL certificates, port management, spam-filtering tweaks, user mailbox creation and final testing with external providers. Remote sessions are welcome; clear documentation of the finished setup is required so I can maintain it myself later.
Mail can be sent to, and received from, major providers without being flagged as spam
Standard checks (e.g., mail-tester.com, MXToolbox) score green or 9/10+
I can connect from desktop and mobile clients and retrieve mail successfully
Skills: Microsoft Exchange, DNS, Windows Server, Documentation, IMAP, SMTP, SSL
Budget: $6–$12 USD
