AI-Based Real-Time Object Detection & Tracking System Development (Raspberry Pi 5 + YOLOv8)
We are looking for an experienced AI/Computer Vision developer for development of a real-time AI-based object detection and tracking system using Raspberry Pi 5.
Project Overview:
The system will use a non-USB camera module connected to Raspberry Pi 5 for realtime object detection, tracking, and command generation over UART communication.
The project mainly focuses on:
- AI-based object detection
- Real-time object tracking
- Multi-object detection
- Camera control logic
- UART command generation from Raspberry Pi
- Performance optimization on Raspberry Pi 5
Hardware Stack:
- Raspberry Pi 5 (8GB)
- Arducam 8MP PTZ Camera (CSI Camera, NOT USB Camera)
- UART communication with external controller
AI Stack:
- YOLOv8n preferred
- OpenCV
- Python
- ONNX Runtime optimization
- ByteTrack / Kalman Filter (preferred)
Higher-Level Scope of Work:
1. Setup complete AI environment on Raspberry Pi 5
2. Integrate Arducam PTZ camera with Python/OpenCV
3. Use ready pretrained AI detection models from online sources
4. Implement realtime object detection
5. Detect multiple moving objects in a single frame
6. Implement object tracking logic
7. Generate UART commands based on object movement and position
8. Camera auto zoom-in / zoom-out logic based on target size or distance
9. Optimize inference performance for Raspberry Pi 5
10. Reduce false positives and improve tracking stability
11. Create modular and production-ready code structure
12. Implement auto-recovery/restart handling if camera or AI crashes
13. FPS optimization and low-latency processing
14. Provide proper installation/setup documentation
15. Assist in final deployment and testing remotely
Important Notes:
- We are NOT using a USB webcam
- Existing UART command structure and complete logic will be shared after confirmation
- Developer will work remotely on Raspberry Pi setup
- Remote access credentials will be shared after discussion
- All source code, setup files, trained models, scripts, and project data must be handed over after completion
- Full copyright and ownership of all deliverables will belong to us after project completion
- NDA/confidentiality may be required
