Freelancer Client is hiring: Single-Family Structural Coordination.
Location: Remote
I’m in the planning & design stage of a new single-family home and need a structural engineer who can keep every load-bearing detail in sync with the rest of the team. The architectural concept is nearly locked, so your primary task is to translate it into a fully coordinated structural package that the city will approve on the first pass.
What you'll do:
• Review the current schematic plans, spot structural conflicts early, and advise on the most practical system for a residential build.
• Develop foundation, framing, and roof drawings with supporting calculations—AutoCAD or Revit is preferred so my architect can track revisions live.
• Join quick coordination calls with the architect and MEP designer to resolve clashes before they hit the drawings.
• Deliver a permit-ready, signed calculation package plus PDFs and native files of the final structural sheets.

Here’s what I have in mind:
• Review the current schematic plans, spot structural conflicts early, and advise on the most practical system for a residential build.
• Develop foundation, framing, and roof drawings with supporting calculations—AutoCAD or Revit is preferred so my architect can track revisions live.
• Join quick coordination calls with the architect and MEP designer to resolve clashes before they hit the drawings.
• Recommend cost-effective materials or detailing tweaks that won’t compromise code compliance or long-term performance.
• Deliver a permit-ready, signed calculation package plus PDFs and native files of the final structural sheets.
Acceptance criteria:
• Drawings satisfy local residential code and the latest IRC without outstanding plan-checker comments.
• Structural sheets align perfectly with the architectural set (no unaddressed mark-ups).
• All calculations are traceable, clearly referenced, and professionally sealed where required.
If we gel well on this phase, I’d be happy to extend the engagement into construction administration, but for now the focus is squarely on getting a coordinated, permit-ready design. Please share your typical turnaround time and preferred software so I can hand off the current model right away.
