I am developing a mechanical watch that steps outside the usual dress, dive, or pilot categories—a genuinely new kind of timepiece where intricacy itself becomes the headline feature. I already have several conceptual notes covering complication layout, case geometry, and dial artistry, but I need an experienced horologist to translate those ideas into a complete, build-ready design.
Your role spans the full design cycle: refining my concepts, engineering the movement architecture, specifying materials, and preparing production-grade technical drawings. Traditional analog, digital, and smartwatch solutions are not what I’m after; the focus is firmly on a pure mechanical calibre, executed with imaginative engineering flourishes and layered visual depth.
Acceptance criteria for this project
• Hand-sketched or digital concept visuals that capture the overall aesthetic and complication placement
• Detailed 2D technical drawings (dial, case, movement, crown, hands) with manufacturing tolerances
• 3D CAD files suitable for prototyping (STEP or IGES)
• A component list outlining materials, finishes, and suggested suppliers
• Movement specification sheet including complication breakdown, part count, dimensions, power reserve, and assembly notes
• A brief assembly and servicing guide to ensure long-term maintainability
We will collaborate iteratively via milestones: concept confirmation, technical detailing, and final documentation sign-off. If you have a track record of bringing novel complications or avant-garde casework to life, I’d love to see examples in your proposal along with your preferred CAD and drawing tools.
