I’m looking to develop a low-cost marker pen that stays usable for many months without drying out. The pen must combine three key features—quick-drying ink, a refillable reservoir, and a fine tip—so users can write smoothly while keeping running costs minimal.
Performance matters just as much as price, so the ink has to bond cleanly to both paper and common plastics (product packaging, polyethylene folders, etc.) without smudging. I need three core colours—black, blue, and red—using the same base formulation to simplify production.
Here’s what I need from you:
• A complete marker pen design (body, tip, and refill system) optimised for inexpensive mass manufacturing.
• An ink recipe or sourcing guide that secures months-long shelf life in the pen yet dries in seconds on the writing surface.
• Bill of materials with indicative costs and suggested suppliers.
• Prototype or CAD files ready for printing/machining plus clear assembly instructions.
• Short test protocol I can replicate to prove longevity, flow consistency, and adhesion on both specified surfaces.
I’ll review the design against these criteria: unit cost targets hit, refillability without leaks, ink still flowing after three months capped, and clean, quick-dry lines on paper and plastic. Looking forward to a practical, clever solution that makes quality markers affordable for everyone.
