Allaahuakbar.org — Frontend Editorial UI / UX Brief

Project Overview

Allaahuakbar.org is an independent non-profit Islamic educational and knowledge platform focused on publishing authentic, well-researched, and properly referenced Islamic content based upon the Qur’an and Sunnah.

The platform contains a growing archive of Islamic resources including articles, fataawah, audio lectures, videos, books, and structured educational material.

The goal is to create a calm, trustworthy, and highly readable digital experience that prioritises clarity, accessibility, and scholarly integrity over commercialisation or aggressive media presentation.

Current Scope (Phase 1)

The current focus is the redesign and refinement of the public-facing frontend experience of the platform.

This is not intended to be approached as a traditional marketing website, but rather as a structured editorial and knowledge-based product experience.

Primary areas of focus include:

• Editorial and reading experience
• Homepage and content discovery
• Navigation and information hierarchy
• Media presentation (audio/video/books)
• Responsive frontend UX
• Scalable frontend design system

Future CMS/admin enhancements may be explored separately at a later stage.

Design Direction

The platform should feel:

• Clean and structured
• Calm and minimal
• Content-first and highly readable
• Trustworthy and scholarly
• Easy to navigate and scalable
• Editorially mature and distraction-free

The overall UX should prioritise:

• Readability
• Hierarchy
• Accessibility
• Clarity
• Usability
• structured discovery

Visual direction should avoid overly decorative or trend-driven design.

A thoughtful and collaborative product mindset is preferred over purely trend-driven visual execution.

Deliverables

Expected deliverables include:

• Responsive UI screens
• Typography and spacing systems
• Basic prototypes/user flows
• Developer-friendly handoff structure
• Full ownership and transfer of final files

Important Notes

• A collaborative and thoughtful approach is preferred over rushed execution.

Core deliverables

• Wireframes and final UI designs covering home, category, and resource pages
• Front-end build with modern standards (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript or a framework you prefer)
• CMS installation and configuration, including custom post types or fields for educational material
• Basic analytics and SEO best-practice baked in

Acceptance criteria: pages load in under three seconds on a standard 4G connection, pass WCAG

2.1 AA checks, and render correctly in the latest versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox.

If you’ve launched content-heavy learning or editorial sites before, especially those serving mixed audiences, I’d love to see examples and hear how you’d approach this build.
